Amar Nakshawani: The Crucifixion of Christ

This is a brilliant lecture by one of my favorite Islamic speakers. It covers the four more popular views of the verse "Jesus was not crucified" in the Qur'an. Also note this is a Muharam lecture and it will get really emotional at the end when he finishes speaking about Jesus and starts the story for this day of Muharam.

Also note, in Arabic Jesus' name is Isa (I can't remember which name he uses. Its been awhile since I watched it.)

  3. I just watched it!
I see what you mean about it getting emotional at the end. Whoa!
It was really interesting. He mentioned the Docetists, apparently they stated something quite similar to that Quran verse, so at least the idea may not have come completely out of the blue.
Also, one of the four explanations is the one I heard Ahmad Deedat defending - I linked to that in my post on Jesus in the Quran. It's the one about him surviving the whole ordeal. I didn't know it was an actual theory and not just Ahmad Deedat's own wacky interpretation! Hearing it on this video actually filled in some of the gaps for me.

  4. Sarah: Glad you enjoyed it. Yes the most popular scenario is the one where he is replaced with a disciple that looks like Jesus. I'm sorry but thats WAY too out there for me! It seems very logical that the event would have happened which is why they go for it. The crucifixion still happens, they don't have to cancel out the info in the Gospel, and the Qur'an stays true. Being from a Christian background, I prefer the symbolic interpretation that he lives through his message thus they could never truly kill him. I can't discount the crucifixion because it is so important to Christianity.

I can also go for the idea that his soul was raised by God before the crucifixion could actually kill him saving him the pain...but that seems to be symantics.

Jesus Prophet of Islam has a few chapters dedicated to the topic. I will post on it when I actually go back to reading that book LOL No god but God has me way too enthralled.
