I know I am getting to a point where things are going to start happening. I would like to blog about some of these more personal things but I don't want them available to the open masses. I would like to conceal them in the event that a family member might stumble upon my blog. It also keeps all the anons away.
Or would it be better to open a second blog like a couple of people have done and only post those things on a closed network?
What do you think?
Not on blogger... you can do that on wordpress? Hence why I had to make a second private thing. If you make a second one on wordpress and make the posts password protected, it still shows up on people's reader thingies, but a second private blog from blogger doesn't for some reason.
ReplyDeleteWeird. You would think there would be a way to make it so only your watchers could read a post.....I don't really wanna make a whole blog just for a couple posts lol.
ReplyDeleteYeah I noticed Sarah did that on wordpress which is what gave me the idea. But lovely blogger can't do that I suppose.
I've considered (should I ever have anything actually private or sensitive to blog about) making a second blog on wordpress just for those posts, and linking them to blogger. *shrug*
ReplyDeleteFunny enough, Heather just made her blog totally private, but there's no way to contact her and ask to be invited.
Yeah I noticed that too I was all "Aw sad face no more Heather"
ReplyDeleteI think she will figure it out soon and invite us in. I think she has to make us her friends or something first....maybe thats how you can make posts private. Friends only or something.
Do people get updates when you post something on a private blog? I could always just say "Check Blank Blog I updated"
Wordpress might be the way to go for something more private. It has that cool password function

ReplyDeleteThis might work too
Yeah, she has to invite us and then we can read the blog. Wordpress is cool with the password thingy, and I really wish blogger had something similar.
ReplyDeleteOh! And no, they don't get updates on the blog feeder doohicky. I belong to a private blog, and it never tells me when she posts. They're invisible.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess on your open blog you have to go "Private post available" or something so they know? That seems weird but I guess the same thing happens to watchers on wordpress when you do a private post.
ReplyDeleteSeems much more complicated than it should be lol
Yep, I follow a couple of private blogger blogs and I have to actually check the blogs for updates - unless the author lets me know there's a new post somehow. You could of course do that by mentioning it on your public blog.
ReplyDeleteWith wordpress you can have different levels of privacy in the same blog, and the posts show up in the feed reader so people get to know about them. I guess blogger will eventually have this too but not yet. I love wordpress for that one reason. The downside of wordpress is you can't easily change your layout and background etc.
I have taken my blog off the google search... you can make it so only some people can see. you need to make a list of email for the people.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth - right but that will make the entire blog private correct? It will prevent someone who finds you on another blog from seeing your blog right?
ReplyDeleteThe thing is that I need your e-mail addresses to invite you guys to read. I have some things that I need to talk about, but I don't want them out there for *EVERYBODY* to read. If you guys can send me your e-mail addys, I'll invite you. : )
ReplyDeleteYAY I missed you. Every time I try to send you a message my blogger crashes. email is inkblotsblueabayas@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going towards the second blog. Like you mentioned I have some things I want to talk about but I don't want EVERYBODY to read them
