I'm Going On Sunday!!!

I'm so excited I had to share.
I'M GOING TO THE SCHOOL ON SUNDAY!

Soooooo excited. Have no idea what I will be doing but I am so excited. I'll update this post when I find out lol.

Best part: they are going to find someone to coach me on how to pray. My own person prayer coach. *Squeal*! And the principal suggested that I try to attend weekly Congressional prayer (I believe he means Jummah on Friday) to keep my skills up.

And they also have a bowling trip in a couple of weeks. I can see it now a huge group of hijabis bowling teehee!

I'm so giddy with joy.

Mash'Allah!

  4. Stacy: Yes actually I live in a neighborhood with a large muslim community and muslims are quite common in the city I live in. My neighborhood is mostly Pakistani and Iranian.

  6. Lol, so maybe I just didn't get the post where you talked about it and I'm too lazy to go search again (:-P) but what exactly kind of school is it? I'm guessing like some kind of Islamic school...

Oh and MashaAllah I'm glad you're really happy :-)

  7. It is an Islamic School...I think the original post is like two posts down LOL. They teach Qur'an interpretation and then they have a topic of the day which can deal with etiquette, hadiths, rules, belief etc. It is exactly what I need. Books are nice but you can only learn so much from them. And I am tired of getting so confused LOL.

  8. That's great! I hope you have a good experience.
The prayer ritual is pretty easy, you should pick it up no probs. The hardest part would be learning the Arabic if you've not done any Arabic before.
Most importantly I hope you are warmly welcomed and make friends there.
One thing to think about is how you want to handle it if they invite you to say shahada... which they might do before long!

  9. Laila: My arabic is atrocious. That will take a while.

If they do and I am not ready I will decline. I will choose when or if I take my shahada, no one will choose that for me. I have too many unanswered questions for me to make a commitment in the near future. I still struggle with certain things, trying to find out what Islam really teaches vs what people believe. Often they are two different things. One of my current ones is if only muslims go to heaven. The Qur'an says all believers of God, my friends say all believers of God, but ask a shaykh they are likely to tell you only muslims. So, who is right? Its a lot of this, putting my understanding and my belief against the popular/common belief and seeing if it matches. If it doesn't, then it may not work even if my beliefs match how the religion is intended to work. That, in a nutshell, has always been my issue with organized religion.
