They can be of any religion as long as its about God, to God, thanking God, happiness, joy, good fortune etc. I'd love a Buddhist one :). Think happy thoughts.

"Fortress of the Muslim" is a beautiful little book (literally; it's pocket-sized) that has du'as for pretty much every occasion imaginable, as well as general prayers and words of thanksgiving. It has both the Arabic transliteration and English, as well as explanations of the dua's in English. www.beliefnet.com has a great prayer section with prayers to say for all occasions.
